CD RELEASE PARTY!!
Come one, come all - tickets on sale now!

Amy X Neuburg & The Cello ChiXtet celebrate the CD release of "The Secret Language of Subways" -- an 'avant-cabaret' song cycle for voice and three cellos, with live electronic percussion, looping and processing.

"A wonderful performer/composer... [The Secret Language] songs channel the rhythms of urban life through the seriocomic sensibility of a born entertainer." -- Joshua Kosman, SF Chronicle

"Amazing, triumphant, ambitious and soaring... There really is something evocative about the NYC subway that triggers the creative spirit. Mix in the Iraq war and 9/11, and you've got fertile ground for lots of fragments and images that coalesce into the songs that form the 'Subways' cycle." -- Craig Matsumoto, KZSU

More cellos! Opening the show will be the incomparable Zoë Keating performing her one-woman orchestra of solo works for looped cello.

RumiCello is the collaborative presentation of two performers: Eric Schneider heartfully and joyously spouts contemporary translations of mystical poetry of Rumi, Hafiz, and Kabir to the inspired improvisational and classical cello of Elaine Kreston. Since Eric has memorized hundreds of poems, and Elaine plays a combination of memorized and improvised music, RumiCello performances are inspired spontaneity.

Dessert & snack potluck at the break. A yummy evening indeed.

Amy X Neuburg & the Cello ChiXtet
in their Davies After Hours series

Classically trained vocalist Amy X Neuburg explores connections between classical, experimental, and popular music, and is the perfect artist to respond to the San Francisco Symphony’s performance of Berg’s Lulu Suite and the Beethoven Violin Concerto. She combines electronic looping, witty and provocative lyrics with the sounds of the Cello ChiXtet to create what they describe as “avant-cabaret” that is at once sharp and quirky.
